“[We are] hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair;” (2Co 4:8 NKJV)
“...We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2Co 3:18 NKJV)
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.” (Re 3:11 NKJV)
I write this column with a measure of sadness as it represents the ending of an era that began 25 years ago with the vision of Editor Bob Dill in founding and publishing of a local paper, which values the community, stands for conservative principles and has no shame in honoring God. It has been my privilege to write a column for this publication for almost all of its published existence. I wish to thank Bob and all his staff who have done a great service to our community in the publishing of The Times Examiner.

“For you are still carnal. For where [there are] envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like [mere] men?” (1Cor. 3:3 NKJV)
A fellow minister and friend Dr. J. Gordon Henry, who conducts Prayer Seminars for churches and ministries nationally and internationally, laments that most churches fail to have vital prayer ministries because their members are largely “carnal.”

While I understand what Dr. Henry is saying and lament the same possibility, I think that many, who profess Christianity as their personal Faith, may actually be “carnal,” which means fleshly, in a different sense than it is commonly understood.

With graduations over and students out for summer break we may not be thinking much about school or education at this time. Most of us were glad when graduation finally came, and we were certainly relieved when classes were over for the summer.
Now that the academic year has ended, however, I have been thinking about a different school. It is a school from which there are no graduates and the curriculum is one of life-long learning. This is a school where no academic credit is given nor is a grade-point maintained. It is the School of Prayer.

{jcomments on}I have written recently a couple of articles on the subject of worldviews. An understanding of worldviews certainly reveals that there is a clear connection between what one believes about reality and the way one lives.
When something provokes a change in what one believes, there follows in tow a change in lifestyle.
Recently, I have been preparing some messages for my congregation with regard to the biblical doctrine of sin and the introduction of depravity upon humanity. During my preparatory studies I could not help but notice how one's view of reality orders their understanding of life and how it is lived.
